Kundapur: Fareen & Haleema - Coastal Region's Very Own 'Chak De' Girls

Kundapur, Feb 7: Fareen and Haleema, students of Dina - School for Special Education and Rehabilitation, Shirur have brought honours to the undivided Dakshina Kannada district by helping the state team win the gold medal in the national floor hockey tournament organized for special children at Shimla recently.

These special children have made their parents, institution and village proud by playing a major role in winning the gold for the state team. Among the 13-member team, Dina was the only school representing the coastal region.

Fareen and Haleema will be representing the national team for the Winter World Games floor hockey championship which is to be held at Idaho in the United States of America in 2009, said Malati Harish Udyavar, principal of the school in a press release.

Fareen is the daughter of Basha and Zainabi of Shirur and Haleema is the daughter of Umair D F and Faika of Bhatkal. They were trained by coach and headmistress Malati Harish Udyawar.

Dina School for Special Education and Rehabilitation is managed by Touheed Educational Trust, Gangolli.
