Chikkamagaluru, Jan 19: Incidents of honey-trap, earlier heard in Bengaluru, Kerala and a few other places are spreading quite fast to the Malnad region. The recent incidents of honey-trapping have sent shockwaves among the people here.

People living in the region had suspicions about some people indulging in shooting porn films in the thick forests of Malnad. However, honey-trapping for the sake of ransom has given people sleepless nights. A person was recently robbed of Rs 2 lacs in Narasimharajapura after honey-trapping.

As per sources, Khairunnisa and Ruksana Banu are the primary suspects who are involved in the act. Prakash, Lijesh, Narendra and Arun are suspected to be their accomplices. They were arrested after complaints were lodged against them at Narasimharajapura police station. Police suspect the involvement of some more people.
How the gang worked

Ruksana Banu and Khairunnisa after getting friendly with rich men during parties and programmes invited them to their farm house. The duo used to call young girls to the farm after the men would reach there and record their sexual activities using secret cameras. The women would then use the recorded footage to blackmail the rich men and extract money from them, stated the police.

The suspects might have blackmailed many people like this. However, some victims due to fear of their reputation getting damaged, chose to keep quite after giving as much money as demanded by the suspects. A similar case was registered against the gang in Shivamogga a week ago, said police.

Meanwhile Chikkamagaluru superintendent of police (SP) Annamalai has said that investigation is being held and prompt action will be taken based on the same.
