Karkala, Jan 28: People from all walks of life, different destinations, both near and far, and of various kinds take part in the annual festival of St Lawrence Minor Basilica shrine at Attur near here, which concluded recently. Devotion and gratefulness are the two major emotions which draw people to this shrine year after year.

A man who came to this year's annual festival attracted lot of attention of the devotees who had congregated there, on account of his unusual appearance. While thousands of poor had gathered to receive alms and food, this man was the very picture of wealth, wearing unusually heavy jewellery.

Many people, both men and women, thronged to get photographed with this man, perhaps to carry home the proof that they had come across a person who was so different from others. Although some people expressed doubts about the gold ornaments worn by him being genuine, those who wanted to get photographed in the visitor's company were not at all bothered about the genuineness or otherwise of these ornaments.
