Four skaters from Mangaluru bring laurels to city

Mangaluru, Jan 31: Four skaters have brought laurels to the city by bagging six gold, two silver and one bronze medal at the 54th National Roller Speed Skating Championship held at Bengaluru from January 18 to 23.

Muhammad Shamil Arshad, Omkar Yogaraj, Kushi Rani and Dashiel Concessao are the four skaters. They are all from the city-based Hi-Flyers Skating Club.

Among the four, Muhammad Shamil Arshad has achieved a feat that no skater has from Mangaluru. Arshad has become the only skater to bag the National Level Individual Championship title by securing 3 gold medals. He was trained by coach Mohandas K and represented the team Karnataka.

Also, Dashiel Concessao added another feather in the cap of Hi-Flyers Skating Club by bagging a silver medal at the XIII National Ice-skating Championship held at Shimla and Delhi from January 3 to 6 in the under-13 years girls category.
