Moodbidri, Feb 1: The ATM of State Bank of India here suddenly caught fire at around 9.30 pm on Tuesday January 31. Both the machines located inside the centre got burnt down in this fire.

Some customers who were waiting for their turn at the centre ran out as soon as the siren started blaring. Locals immediately rushed to the spot, used the fire extinguisher equipment provided inside and succeeded in dousing the fire.

Two machines including the one meant for cash deposit, air-conditioner and power connection wires were found to have been burnt. This ATM registers highest transactions among all the ATMs in this town. Branch manager and policemen visited the spot and began investigation. It is guessed that power short circuit caused this accident. It is yet to be known whether money inside these machines too got charred.
