Udupi, Feb 24: A loyal security guard fought valiantly against the thieves who had planned to steal tyres from a showroom where he was posted. The incident occurred at TVS and Sons Pvt Ltd (Ashok Leyland) showroom in Varamballi village, Brahmavar, late night on Wednesday February 22. Knowing fully well that he was facing the grave risk of losing his life as he had to fight against three thieves, the guard stood his ground, refused to backtrack, and in the end, succeeded in protecting the tyres from getting stolen.

Rony Lewis (50) happens to be the security guard of Ashok Leyland showroom in question. He was on night duty on Wednesday when three thieves came from behind and hit him in the head with a rod. When they tried to bring down the rod on him once again, Rony escaped. The thieves then hit his shoulder with the rod and pierced him with a screw driver. Ronny could understand from the Hindi conversation of the thieves that they wanted to take the tyres away. Rony then launched assault on the thieves with a rod, and succeeded in driving them away.

Rony and the three thieves were injured in this incident. On the basis of a complaint filed in this connection by Rony, Brahmavar police have registered a case and begun investigation.
