Mumbai-Kochi Air India flight makes emergency landing at Mangaluru airport

Mangaluru, Feb 28: The Mumbai-Kochi Air India flight with 47 passengers on board made an emergency landing at Mangalore International Airport here on Monday February 27.

It is learnt that the domestic flight, on the way to Kochi, landed at Mangaluru airport at around 8 pm due to technical snag.

The passengers were deboarded and alternate arrangements have made by Air India to take them to Kochi, it is learnt. Another flight is being brought to Mangaluru from Kochi to take the passengers to their destination, official sources said.

    Also yesterday, another Air India aircraft AI 933 traveling Delhi-Kochi had to make an emergency landing in Delhi after negligence from engineers.

    The aircraft was AIRBUS A320. Its similar size to 737-800.

    IXE can handle aircraft size of A320 or B737-800 only. We dont have the runway length for aircraft above these sizes. If not there can be another big diaster. While land has been approved for new airport at Konaje, not sure why we are still developing the old table top airport. Makes not sense at all.

    Vinayakaji....no that's not true.....during last Haj trips....one such air craft with 240+ passengers (I believe) operated safely from M'Lore Airport!!!! In deed land has been allotted for extension of runway....but now funds is the problem....

    It was a Airbus310 wide body category, which looks big. The runway currently is only 1615 mtrs and the expansion request was for 2450 mtrs and above, for which AAI wants the state govt to invest for the expansion. We need to have the runway expanded soon, only then bigger aircrafts can land and be another destination of pride for the int'l airlines.

    Shh.....One of our Bee Jee Pee Em Pee was there, and he misses the flight to Mangalore, and somehow they [Air India] helped him by stabbing all passengers. Please keep quite. Madji will get angry, and all you know if he get mad he will ..... us all.

    It is not first time ,and will not be the last time AI .having technical problems.As usual.Iask sometimes really they dont check before flight takes off.It can happen to any other too.But AI .is bit too much.Big risk to passengers when it happens very often.
