Hot-air balloon makes emergency landing in Angkor

Phnom Penh, Mar 3 (IANS): A hot-air balloon carrying eight foreign tourists over Angkor Archaeological Park in Cambodia made an emergency landing on Friday after it was hit by high winds, officials said.

No injuries were reported, according to Xinhua news agency.

"The balloon made an emergency landing when it met strong winds," the Siem Reap police chief, General Sath Nady, said.

It was operated by the Cambodia Flight Holiday International company.

According to him, the tourists were flown to see temples in the complex of Angkor Archaeological Park and it was about 250 metres off the ground during the incident.

The Angkor Archaeological Park, inscribed on the Unesco's World Heritage List in 1992, is the kingdom's top tourist destination.

The site attracted 2.2 million foreign tourists in 2016, earning $62.5 million from ticket sales.
