Kochi, Mar 15: 26-year-old Cronin Alexander Baby has said that he had no role in the death of Mishel Shaji Varghese, his girlfriend who allegedly committed suicide.
Mishel Shaji was found dead near Ernakulum wharf on March 6 after she went missing on March 5. She had said that she would go to church and went from the hostel, but never came back.
Cronin told the magistrate court on Tuesday March 14 in Ernakulum that he had some minor issues with Mishel like in any other relationships, but he was not responsible for her death in any way.

“Mishel last told me that she was going to the church and that she would call me after that. When I called her the next day, her phone was switched off,” Cronin said in the court.
Cronin was remanded to 14 days judicial custody by the court. He was arrested on the charges of abetment for suicide earlier.
Police said that Cronin and Mishel were in love for the past two years and were going through a rough patch in the recent past. Cronin had called Mishel four times on March 4 and six times on March 5. He also had sent her 57 and 32 messages respectively on March 4 and 5.
Cronin was working in Chhattisgarh. His bail application will be heard on Wednesday.
