Damascus, March 15 (IANS): At least 25 persons were killed when a suicide bomber detonated his explosives-strapped vest in the old Justice Palace building in Damascus on Wednesday, the state-news agency reported.
Government authorities ordered an evacuation of the area over fears of further attacks.
A Damascus Police source told SANA news agency that the initial toll is said to be 25, with many others injured.
The attack comes on the sixth anniversary of the protests which paved the way for the Syrian conflict and is the second bombing in the Syrian capital in five days.
Twin bomb attacks killed at least 40 in Damascus last week.
