Mayawati to move court against EVM 'tampering'

Says got unsatisfactory reply from EC on plaint

Lucknow, Mar 16 (DHNS): Reiterating her allegations that the electronic voting machines were tampered with in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, BSP supremo Mayawati on Wednesday decided to approach the court on the matter.

She said the party got an unsatisfactory reply from the Election Commission with regard to its complaint on the issue. Speaking to reporters here, Mayawati said her party would observe a black day on the 11th of every month across the state to register its protest against the tampering.

“The BJP resorted to tampering to prevent the Dalits and backward classes from coming to power. The BJP’s victory has been attained through fraud and we are determined to expose it,” she said.

She said the BJP chose UP for vote-tampering as it would have been “caught” if it had done the same in Punjab, Manipur and Goa.

Mayawati said the media, if it was honest, would also not believe that the saffron party could win so many seats in the state. She again demanded fresh polls in the state using ballot paper. “If the BJP thinks its victory is genuine, it should have no hesitation in agreeing to fresh polls through ballot paper,” she said.

The BSP supremo, whose party won only 19 seats, had earlier said that the election results were “shocking” and “unbelievable”. She said democracy was in “danger” under the NDA rule and appealed to the Opposition parties to take up the issue raised by her.

When a doubt is expressed its the duty of the court to do proper investigation. Not only BSP, even ordinary citizens have doubts about EVM. When advanced countried like Germany, UK, Scotland, Italy, USA Japan have banned EVM, how can an underdeveloped country like India rely on EVM results.

Mayawatiji, no use of moving to court. All are sold and everyone's soul is dead. Need only money and wealth. You will never get justice in India against BJP. However, if you decide to fight for it, we are with you. Let us all fight for justice. God bless you. Even KG kid can say that EVMs were rigged in U.P.

Good move. Happy to know that Mayawati has decided to move court against EVM 'tampering'. The results in UP are shocking but not unexpected. Nevertheless, EVMs run on programmes and computer recognise only man-made software. It is good that our nation is informed by an independent body the court about the sanctity and safety of using EVMs. Otherwise, elections will be a farce. Hope Mayawati will go to court with some concrete evidence and not mere assumptions and presumptions.
