'Congress lost political, not economic argument on demonetisation'

Kolkata, Mar 19 (IANS): Former Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram said here on Saturday that although the Congress has lost the political argument on demonetisation, it hasn't lost the economic argument.

"We have lost the political argument but I don't think we have lost the economic argument," Chidambaram said.

"Objectives are good but demonetisation is not the answer," he asserted.

On the Kashmir issue, the veteran politician laid emphasis on placing trust in the people of the region.

"We should trust the people of Kashmir. We must honour Article 370. We must give them more autonomy. We must trust them with more autonomy," he said.

Mr. Chidambaram overestimates the intelligence and character of his fellow Indians. Most Indians are ignorant of economics. Modi succeeded politically in the exploitation of poor Indians' envy of the rich.

You never made economic argument to lose it. Right from day 1, this was made a political issue. At least the parliament could have been used to put government on spot, but all Congress was interested was arguing under which clause this should be debated.

Common man supported the demonitisation process as they were sure that the "Objectives are good" and they wont bother the result, before eggs are hatched ! Is it some thing similar to the great philosophy "Do your duty and don't bother about the result"?
But some have not stopped crying. They cried then and now too, repenting why they over-cried and lost mandate.

Chidu says "Objectives are good but demonetization is not the answer". What's the answer then , looting?. Both political and economic affairs are interlinked, people are smarter than you think.

You made mistakes by depositing all your money in bank.

Going forward please diversify your portfolio.

If banks have no money to give back then what will you do?
