Mangalore, Mar 11:
Renowned singer and vocalist Vidyabhushan in an endeavor to propagate ancient Indian literature through devotional songs presented a vocal concert on 'Dasa Sahitya' which was organized jointly by the Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, Sangeetha Parishat and University College here in the city on Sunday March 9.
 
'Dasa Sahitya' is basically the literature of bhakti movement composed by devotees in ancient times in honor of Hindu God Lord Vishnu or one of his avatars. 'Dasa' literally means servant in Kannada and 'Sahitya' is literature.

Haridasas ("servants of God") were preachers of bhakti to Lord Vishnu or one of his avatars. The bhakti literature of these Haridasas is collectively referred to as Dasa Sahitya, which is in Kannada language.
 
The sublime rendition of several rare compositions as also devotional songs of 'Dasa Sahitya' by Vidwan Vidyabhushan took the audience to heights of celestial ecstasy.  It was warmly received by an appreciative audience. Vidyabhushan was ably supported in his vocal recital by other accompanying artistes on violin, mridangam and ghatam.
