Muscat: Mangalore United Sohar wins big at Mangalorean Cup tennis ball cricket tourney

Muscat, Mar 28: Mangalore United Sohar won the prestigious 'Mangalorean Cup 2017' hosted by Spark XI on March 17 and 24. The tournament was one of the biggest tennis ball cricket tournaments in the city.

In a series of nail biting matches lasting two weeks played between 18 top teams of Muscat at Power Plant Ground, Al Ghubra, Mangalore United Sohar emerged winners. They defeated Spark XI Muscat in the finals to take home the 'Mangalorean Cup 2017' along with some attractive individual awards for top performers of the tournament and a special award for the team with the best jersey.

Batting first, Mangalore United scored 94 in 8 overs and Spark XI were all out for 56 in 6.4 overs chasing a target of 95. This feat was on account of the energetic teamwork throughout the tournament along with some stellar batting performances by Izaj, Ashok Mathias and Baber and top quality bowling by Ashok Acharya, Alwin Tauro and Ashraf Khan.
