Mangalore, Mar 12: In the next 15 years, India's urban popualtion growth would touch 70% which would lead to serious climatic changes. Therefore, one has to think about eco-friendly measures, said Chris Gibson, head of Association of British Scholars (ABS) in Chennai.

Inaugurating a meet on ‘Green Buildings-Low Carbon Futures,’ organized by Association of British Scholars, Association of Consulting Civil Engineers and Architects’ Guild on Tuesday, March 11, he said that low lying coastal lines will be affected more owing to the climate changes. Hence, there is a need to create awareness among the people about environment, he said.

Harsha Shreedhar, general manager of Biodiversity, Conservation (India) Limited, said that one should use solar energy to a maximum extent and use existing building components as building materials, he suggested.

Rajendra Kalbavi welcomed the gathering. Karnataka Police Housing Corporation (KPHC) chairman Shrikumar, Neeraj Ranjandas, additional director general of CRPF Kolkota, Western Range IGP Ashit Mohan Prasad, DC M Maheshwar Rao and Prof B M Hegde, president of ABS Mangalore were present on the occasion.
