Kundapur: Bidder expresses anguish after tender was cancelled off

Kundapur, Apr 1: The tender process of gram panchayat shopping rooms which was not done for the last several decades was completed in between huge opposition in Basrur gram panchayat.

The tender process was conducted on March 15 for the first time in Basrur grama panchayat history on demands from villagers. 28 rooms for shopping in the gram panchayat limits were auctioned. It would have brought Rs 36 lacs income per year.







However gram panchayat PDO and president together persuaded the remaining gram panchayat members and have prepared to let the rooms to those who were staying on rent for the last several years. Therefore the tender process was cancelled declaring it illegal.

The villagers have alleged that the likely income to the panchayat and the tender process is cancelled due to unknown lure. It is also alleged that Rs one thousand deposit was received from the bidders and the bidders were cheated without providing the rooms as per rules.

The villagers have urged that suitable action be taken against gram panchayat which has violated Panchayat raj rules and the rooms be let only to those who obtained the tender. They have threatened of violent protests otherwise.
