Bengaluru: Speaker Koliwad gets a new, spacious office

Bengaluru, Apr 7 (DHNS) : Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker K B Koliwad has not got a new office in Vidhana Soudha which has been renovated at a cost of Rs 68 lakh.

The office, which is located on the first floor of the Vidhana Soudha, was inaugurated by Legislative Council Chairman D H Shankarmurthy, on Thursday. Earlier, the Speaker had a single room as his office and now it has been expanded into two rooms. While ownership of Vidhana Soudha is vested with Public Works Department, the contract for renovation of the Speaker’s office was awarded to a private entity, R K Industries. The principal secretary of the PWD had raised objections to entrusting the work to a private agency and the Speaker had stood by his decision. The new office is fully air-conditioned. It has a meeting hall and an antechamber.

Speaking to reporters, Koliwad said, “There is no violation of any rule in renovating my office.I get lot of visitors from various states. I need a proper office.”
