Scarlett Murder: Key Witness Micheal Manyon Arrives in Goa

Panaji, March 17 (PTI):  A crucial witness in Scarlett rape and murder case, a British national Micheal Manyon, 35, arrived in Goa to depose before the state police investigating in this sensational case.

Goa police had issued a look out notice for Manyon, who had fled the state three days after the incident fearing life. The british national is considered as a crucial witness in this case and is likely to throw more light on the last few hours before Scarlett Eden Keeling, a 15 year old UK girl was drugged, raped and murdered on goa's popular Anjuna beach.

"I have taken his deposition first and later in the day, he will be produced before police where he will give his deposition in presence of sub divisional magistrate," Vikram Varma, who is advising Scarlett's family on legal matters, told .

Varma will also represent Manyon in this case.

Police have already arrested two people – Samson D'Souza (a barman) and Placido Carvalho (a drug trader) – for drugging, raping and murdering Scarlett.

Manyon, a carpenter by profession back in UK, was holidaying in Goa and staying with one of the accused Samson D'Souza, when the incident happened.

The british national had informed UK embassy in Mumbai about the sexual assault little before Scarlett's mother Fiona Mackeown suspected foul play in the matter. Manyon had not left India and was in Mumbai all these days.

Varma stated that Manyon was along with others on February 17 night when later past mid night scarlett walked in.

"He told Samson not to mess up with the girl as she is hardly 15," Varma stated.

Manyon is one amongst the witness who saw Samson sexually abusing Scarlett behind the shack.

The British national's testimony is also likely to highlight role of another suspect Murli kumar, who is questioned by police, in this case. Manyon, in his deposition to the lawyer, has said that Murli was present at the place and was talking to someone on mobile when Samson was sexually abusing Scarlett.
