Panaji, Mar 22: Following arrest of two accused, who allegedly confessed to drugging, raping and leaving Scarlett to die, Goa police have trained their guns on her boyfriend, Julio Lobo, who is already booked for grave sexual assault.
 
Lobo, 21, got friendly with slain british girl Scarlett Eden Keeling, little after she arrived in Goa with her mother in November last year.
 
Police investigations have revealed that Scarlett, who was found dead on anjuna beach on february 18, had left her mother and shifted to live with Lobo, three weeks before her death.
 
Scarlett's death had created huge controversy in this coastal state, known for its beaches. Police have arrested two locals – Samson D'Souza, a barman and Placido Carvalho, an alleged drug dealer – for drugging, raping and murdering the girl.
 
After cracking down the case and claiming that the investigations are almost complete, the police are now prosecuting Lobo, under Goa Children's Act, 2003. 
 
Police today took Julio Lobo, accused of grave sexual assault on Scarlett, for medical examination.
 
Anticipating arrest, Lobo had moved to the Goa children's court and secured a bail.
 
Three weeks before her death, Scarlett, had shifted to Lobo's place at Siolim, few kilometers away from Anjuna beach. Scarlett's diary, which is possessed by police, speaks of her sexual encounter with Lobo.
 
The 21 year youth is in dock as Scarlett was a minor.
 
"It's a part of investigation. He is being examined to ascertain whether he is sexually active," superintendent of police, Bosco George stated.
 
Police during their initial investigation had questioned Lobo, who had told that he had left Scarlett with another Spanish female friend on the eve of February 18. From the beginning, the Lobo's behaviour was not suspected as he was seen searching Scarlett on the day, she was found dead.
 
The investigating authorities said that, if proved in the court, Lobo will face severe punishment for having sex with the minor as it amounts to grave sexual abuse as per Indian laws.
