Take EVMs used in Assembly polls into judicial custody: Uttarakhand HC

Dehradun, Apr 27 (Deccan Chronicle) : The Uttarakhand High Court on Thursday ordered that Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) used in elections be taken into judicial custody.

According to reports, the HC in its order directed police to seize EVMs used in the February Assembly elections.

The HC order came in response to a Congress leader’s plea alleging that the machines had been tampered, said reports.

    Despite the assurance by the EC that the EVMs are tamper-proof, the controversy should be put to rest by the Hon'ble Uttarakhand HC by a thorough investigation. Democratic process will be at peril if the allegation of tampering of EVMs is not probed and confidence restored in the minds of the citizens.

    Let the verification of "alleged/probable tampering of EVMs " used in the recently concluded Assembly elections in 5 states, be entrusted to any experts based out of our country, since these lingering doubts/suspicions can be cleared once and for all.

    In case of a clear report, the NDA Govt. at the centre would stand to gain much in trustworthiness, credibility and image among all parties concerned.

    If court states that EVM's are not tampered with then Election commission should file defamation case against everyone who accused EC with EVM tampering. I think this is possible, since EC is just waiting for court verdict, once It is out, people who accused EC will have to shell out hefty fines, which should be used by EC to buy VPAT- EVM's

    If EVM are tampered as per court then EC should do a re-election in the states irrespective of who won the election.

    Breaking news -The Cong veteran leader, Janardhana Poojari has demanded the Supreme court to conduct re-elections in his constituency as EVMs were tampered during the elections in 2014 .

    EVMs used for the 'Vikasnagar constituency' in the Uttarakhand assembly elections earlier this year will be taken in court's custody, the state's High Court has ruled, as it admitted a petition by a Congressman who lost the election from that seat.

    This is what I've read in multiple media websites. also, it doesn't even mean that EVM's have been tampered

    Like number of votes poled against number of votes registered in the evm
    Let them caste some more votes and see who the votes are going...
    Videograph entire procedure
    Do random checking with 100 evm
    Register all the results and publish it in the news paper
    I am confident that evms have done no mistake.

    So no wonder BJP's Maharasthra state unit is asking today for immediate (mid-term) elections to teach Shiv Sena a lesson(BJP's oldest ally in N.D.A) after their win over Delhi's municipal corporations.

    Mumbai ka maal (Country's commericial capital) mutti me(would be in BJP's control.

    So they will hire another foreign agency for that job too(Tax payers money!!!)

    If there is punishment for baseless allegations, the entire BJP team and Times Now Channel would have been landed in jail by now for the corruption allegation on Mr. Robert Vadra, 2G, Coalgate, etc because None of the charges has proved in the court. BJP leaders like Dr. Subramanian Swamy, L.K. Advani and G.V.L. Narasimha Rao are made allegations on EVMs initially. So now all other party leaders also making same allegations. In a democratic country people have full right to clear their doubts.

    Manish Tiwari and Diggi Raja had to publically apologies and beg Ghadkari to take back the case when the baselessly alleged charges against him. seems like Dongis memory is selected or low.
