Jharkhand Police to seize property of banned group's chief

Ranchi, Apr 28 (IANS): Jharkhand Police on Friday has started the process to confiscate properties of banned Maoist outfit People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) chief Dinesh Gope, an official said.

PLFI and it's supremo Dinesh Gope has spread its influence to at least 10 districts of the state.

"Police headquarter has given its consent to confiscate the properties of Dinesh Gope. Gope has amassed properties in Ranchi, Khuti, and other districts of the state. He has also invested outside the state," a police official involved in anti-Maoist operation told IANS.

"Dinesh has properties in the name of relatives and other people as well. A list of properties are being prepared. The process will be completed after taking orders from the court. Police has identified a two floor bungalow in a colony in Ranchi too," he added.

A petrol pump owner was arrested last year during demonetisation while trying to deposit Dinesh Gope's Rs 25 lakh in bank.

Police sources say that Gope used contractors and petrol pump owners for investment of money earned through extortion.
