New Delhi, May 13 (IANS): President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday paid homage to former President Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed on his birth anniversary.
"Mukherjee, family members of Ahmed, officers and staff of Rashtrapati Bhavan paid floral tributes in front of a portrait of the former President at Rashtrapati Bhavan," a press statement said.
Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed was born on May 13, 1905 and died on February 11, 1977 after he suffered a heart attack.
He was elected as the fifth President on August 24, 1974 and served in the post till his death on February 11, 1977.
He signed the order on promulgation of emergency on June 25, 1975.
