Kolkata, May 18 (IANS): A newly married woman allegedly committed suicide after getting to know about her husband's affair on Thursday in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district, police said.
"The body of Kakoli Adhikari (18), married to Kunal Adhikari, was found hanging from the ceiling of her room at her in-laws house," a police official said.
According to the husband's family members, the woman committed suicide by hanging herself.
However, the victim's family alleged that their daughter was forced to commit suicide by her husband as she came to know about his extramarital affair, the police said.
"We have arrested the husband. The in-laws would also be interrogated," the official added.
