Bus service to Muzaffarabad resumes

Srinagar, June 5 (IANS): The bus service from Srinagar to Muzaffarabad across the Line of Control resumed on Monday.

The weekly 'Karvan-e-Aman' bus was not operated last week due to an encounter on the LoC in Naugam sector, in which four militants and three soldiers were killed.

Officials said the bus left Srinagar with 13 passengers, including nine women and two children.

"More passengers are likely to board the bus at the trade facilitation centre in Uri," officials said here.

The bus service was started in April 2005 as a major confidence-building measure between India and Pakistan to facilitate travel by members of families living in Indian and Pakistan administered parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
