Udupi: President Pranab Mukherjee to lay foundation stone for B R Shetty's hospital

Udupi, Jun 7: President of India Pranab Mukherjee will lay the foundation stone for NRI entrepreneur Dr B R Shetty's super specialty hospital at K M Marg here on June 18.

The super specialty hospital under BRS Health and Research Institute, being built by Dr B R Shetty, founder chairman and CEO, NMC Healthcare, Abu Dhabi, and chairman, BRS Health & Research Institute Pvt Ltd, will come up next to Koosamma Shambhu Shetty Memorial Haji Abdullah Mother and Child Hospital, the foundation stone for which was laid late last year.

Apart from participating in the foundation laying ceremony, the President will also visit Sri Krishna Math here and Mookambika temple at Kollur.

Detailed discussions regarding security arrangements and precautions to be taken during the arrival of the President were held in a meeting chaired by deputy commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis on Wednesday June 7.

District officials were assigned the responsibility of appointing nodal officers and taking precautions.

Additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Dakshina Kannada Kumar, Udupi ADC Anuradha, sub-divisional officer Shilpa Nag, additional SP Vishnuvardhan, DCF Amarnath, all tahsildars and officials of the engineering department were present in the meeting.
