Mangaluru: Objectionable comment on Modi- Woman apologises, deletes FB account

Daijiworld Media Network-Mangaluru (RJP)

Mangaluru, Jun 11: A woman, who had posted an objectionable comment on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Facebook, later apologised to the complainant and deleted her account.

Ajith Ullal, a BJP leader from Ullal, was the complainant.

As per details, an article on Hinduism in2023 was published with a photo of Uttar Pradesh chief minister in famous English daily a few days back. A photocopy of that article was posted in a Facebook Group titled ‘Konkan Tara’. When discussion was going on, on the subject, Ajith Ullal also participated in it. A woman of Chikkamagaluru origin, belonging to a minority community, and working presently in Pune posted an objectionable comment against Modi.

Ajith Ullal and some others commented that her comments were objectionable since she portrayed Modi as a leader of a community rather than prime minister of India. Ajith Ullal also wrote to Mumbai police about the woman’s comments. A copy was also sent to BJP’s IT cell in Mangaluru.

Mumbai police promised action and started the investigations. Meanwhile the woman sent a message to Ajith Ullal apologising for the comment. She requested him not to proceed with the matter. Later it was found that the woman deleted her facebook account.

The poor India! They can speak anything about the ex- prime minister or Mahathma Gandhi. When it comes to the great 3 year Modi, you will be asked to leave the country! Remember, India belongs to people or citizens. PM comes next. Human beings first then comes cow!

Dear Ganesh, Mr Modi did not draft the IT Act 2000. if anythig objectionable has been written about Gandhi in social media which comes within the purview of IT act 2000 then you also have the power to file a complaint. the onus is on you to do that. in the given case it would not have mattered if she only criticsed Modi. she went a step further and wanted him to be killed.

Practically speaking, if takes objections to the deluge of adverse comments posted on prominent people, gods, religions, etc. on various social websites, daily 1000s of complaints would be generated n we would require a separate set of police stations n courts to deal with them! Hypo ethically, if the comments originated from a foreign land what would we do??
In short, it is not possible to control the WWW!

The best remedy then go ahead n put a blanket ban on all social sites to avoid such issues!!

Nowadays, it is very risky to even put a critical (healthy) comment on powerful people lest u get into unwanted trouble!!

BTW, what can one say of a very crude comment given on the father of our nation by a very powerful person from the ruling party a couple of days ago??

And we call our country Democratic!! LOL!!

"Freedom of Speech doesn't mean you can say whatever you want." The words whatever you want is subjective depending on one's mindset.

    Shankar,

''Are we or were we ever been a true democratic country?''
    - Well my answer is no.

''As soon as independence, the Congress started force feeding freebies and goodies to minorities.''
    - I have a problem over here when you put blame on one party. who allowed them to do the things they did? It's upon us to educate ourselves and elect right candidates.

Reservations to SC and STs and other minorities and even now it is being continued. A poor Brahmin is punished for the atrocities committed by his ancestors centuries ago.
    - I agree with you that reservation is bad. I think this has led to the slowdown of growth in our country. The right move would have been to take strict action against the people who discriminate against SC and ST rather than give them special treatment at the expense of other casts.

''You mock at Hindu rituals and Gods as Amir has done in PK, it is freedom of expression,.
If Muslims chop off a lecturer's hand, it is a punishment for insulting the Prophet. No one talks about freedom of expression there.''
    - I really dont watch hindi movies.... so i have not watched PK. If he did, I would have no problems with it. I actually get what you trying to say over here. But think if people like you think like the since the people of other religion deals with the people who insult it in a certain way even we should adopt the same strategy. If you do this you will be going down the rabbit hole where the violent reaction to speech is totally justified. And what reputation will it bring to your religion or to your rituals?

''I think legally controlling someone's mouth is still much democratic than chopping off hands.''
    - What you think you can use for silencing others invalid/valid speech can be equally used to silence your valid speech.

These same fanatics compare themselves of being more tolerant like Taliban or comparing themselves with idiots like Pak or Bangladesh but want to take our country to become superpower.
We have to compare ourselves with the likes of West or Europe which are Super powers or Developed countries....if we want to reach the sky...or Hell ( as their own ITI ? nut said) Aim for the sky in order to reach the clouds they say but these guys seem to be aiming at Hell.
Double standards and Hypocrisy by the same guys.

What standings Ajith Ullal has to complain about comments on a public figure? Modi might have taken those comments with a pinch of salt like any other politicians. Some people thrive on free publicity and media is catering to it. I don't understand the meaning of freedom of speech any more.

Why being biased towards only one leader. There are so many bhakts who insult Rahulji, calling him dumb, Pappu. Even that needs to be stopped. Also way back in 2013 when Modi was campaigning he used to insult our Manmohan sing as Maunmohan. What about that. Bhakts used to also say he is in mute mode. Double standards in our country. There is no equality. If a minority says anything it's an offence and if majority bhakts say anything then it is Good.
