Goa: Scarlett Murder - Cop Nerlon Albuquerque Sacked

Panaji, April 11: A Police sub inspector who initially goofed up Scarlett death case was dismissed from services by Goa government on Friday April 11.

Nerlon Albuquerque, whose behaviour was under scanner for British teenager death case, was dismissed from Goa police services.

Albuquerque who headed Anjuna police station on the day when British teenager Scarlett Eden Keeling's body was found on the shore on February 18, had ruled out foul play initially terming it as a death due to drowning.

Only after Scarlett's mother, Fiona Mackeown, raised hue and cry over the case and lobbied for the second autopsy, the police reinvestigated the case.

The second autopsy recommended that the death be investigated as murder. The findings of the second autopsy saw change in guard in investigation and Nerlon Albuquerque was replaced by police inspector Braz Menezes. Subsequently, Albuquerque was placed under suspension.

Goa chief minister Digamber Kamat this evening said that Albuquerque had left major lapses in the investigation. The police establishment board decided to dismiss him, he said.

He said that the decision was taken after holding the preliminary inquiry in the case which proved laxity on the part of Albuquerque.

This case is disgusting, the media doesn't give a damn about integrity here. Fiona is pure white trash and the police of tomorrow will be the decedents of this kind of ultra sick psychology. This is a much broader issue than firing a cop...it's more to do with the type of a mother Fiona is. Her solicitor in Goa is totally corrupt...let's investigate him!

One must not feel sorry for police inspector Nerlon Albuquerque, as he did not perform his duty as he should so he deserves no sympathy. We do not need such police officers to work for our country who take law as they want. The police establishment board has done the right thing by sacking him for good. This will teach the other police officers to be on guard and do their duties properly in the future. Hope they learn a good lesson from this incident.

Its bad luck of PSI Nerlon Albuquerque. Parents should take care of their child. They are responsibile for all these tragedies. Later, they blame on others. Its really very bad. Parents should teach their child to live in this society, not as a free bird, but as a responsible child.
