‘Goa netas allow beef to boost tourism’

Panaji, Jun 15 (TOI): A cow protection group criticized Goan politicians on Wednesday saying that cattle slaughter was allowed to boost the state's tourism image.

Speaking at the sixth all India Hindu convention, Hanumant Parab, president of the Govansh Raksha Abhiyan, said that both, Congress and BJP endorsed consumption of beef. The convention passed a resolution demanding that the cow be declared as national animal. Parab stated that his organization is working to stop the government-run slaughter house in Usgao. Chetan Sharma, member of People for Animals, an organization chaired by Union minister Maneka Gandhi, said, "The heat waves that emanate from the cow the moment it is slaughtered go down the earth and heat up the lava. The extra heat contributes to global warming."
