Chandigarh, Jun 15 (IANS): Chandigarh and its surrounding areas experienced rainfall on Thursday, bringing respite from the sweltering heat.
The tri-city region, comprising Chandigarh, Panchkula (Haryana) and Mohali (Punjab), remained overcast, even though the rain stopped after some time.
Weather department officials said that there could be a thunderstorm later.
The rain gave relief to people from the hot weather.
Chandigarh had recorded a maximum temperature of 40.1 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
Hisar in Haryana was the hottest at 44.3 degrees Celsius.
In Punjab, Patiala and Amritsar recorded highs of 42.4 and 42 degrees respectively.
