International Yoga Day observed in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Jun 21 (IANS): The International Yoga Day was enthusiastically observed across Odisha on Wednesday, with thousands taking part in several events.

Union ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram participated in programmes at Bhubaneswar and Sundargarh respectively.

"Exercise has its limitation to physical fitness. Whereas yoga takes it much further to mental and spiritual wellness," tweeted Pradhan.

The day was also observed in some educational institutions and industrial units across the state. But state-run schools across Odisha skipped the event.

Meanwhile, sand artists Sudarsan Pattnaik and Manas Sahoo have created two sand sculptures at two locations on the Puri beach to make people realize yoga's benefits.

Pattnaik's art depicted Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 'padmasan' yogic posture.
