Be secular while doing yoga: Kerala CM

Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 21 (IANS): One's mind should be truly secular while practising yoga, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said here on Wednesday.

"Yoga should not be mistaken as a religious ritual. It can be practised by all and it is just a physical exercise and needs to be seen in that manner," Vijayan said at an event held to mark the third International Yoga Day.

He said when doing yoga, the mind should be truly secular.

"But today it has come to light that some have hijacked yoga by reciting hymns. What must be noted is yoga was in existence even before the hymns came into existence," added the Marxist leader.

Across Kerala, the yoga day was observed at several places.
