Punjab assembly ruckus leaves staff with broken arm

Chandigarh, Jun 23 (IANS): Even as opposition Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday accused assembly marshals of attacking its legislators, including women, the watch and ward staff filed a complaint with house authorities that they were attacked by the lawmakers.

The marshals, including a woman, alleged that one of them ended up with a fractured arm.

In a written complaint, assembly staff Amanjot Singh said he was on duty when AAP legislators tried to advance towards Speaker Rana K.P. Singh's chair while shouting slogans.

"When the AAP legislators were being taken out, they attacked security staff and fractured Amanjot's left arm," the staff claimed.

Another marshal Harjit Kaur complained to the Speaker that an AAP legislator hit her on the shoulder and her shirt's buttons came off.
