Udupi: Christian, Mogaveera, Billava Families to Get Houses

Udupi, Apr 18: Pariwara Samudaya Charitable Trust will hand over newly-built houses to eight Christian, eight mogaveera and fifteen billava families on Sunday April 20.

Raghupati Bhat, former MLA and chairman of the trust informed media persons here on Thursday April 17 that the houses have been built at Kudru of Udyavara Math near here on a plot of 1.5 acres. The charitable trust received the land from Vibudesha Swamiji of Adamaru Math as charity, he added.  

The houses will be handed over by Yeddyurappa, former CM at a programme which will be presided over by Vibudesha Swamiji. Fr Richard Coelho, priest of Udyavara Church, D V Sadananda Gowda, Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, G Shankar, Manorama Madhwaraj, Dr V S Acharya and others will be the chief guests. 

A bridge constructed at the plot by the trust will be inaugurated on the occasion, he added.

The beneficiary families have been living in thatched huts for centuries. The trust took initiatives to build houses for the families in the wake of a section of media reporting on their plight.
