Mangalore, Apr 18: An eight-day residential Konkani cultural camp 'Fuddaar' was inaugurated at Kalaangann on Wednesday, April 16 by Fr Maxim Rosario, assistant parish priest of Valencia (writer with pen name 'Major Kuppepadav').
He handed over the Konkani Nirantari Flag to the camp leader Vernon D’Souza signifying that Konkani has already achieved a special place in the world by recording its name in Guinness World Records and now its future(fuddaar) is in the shoulders of children.
As many as 46 selected high school students from different parts of the state are participating in the residential camp. They will be taught singing, dance, theatre along with Konkani language. All these children will perform at the 77th monthly theatre which will be held on Sunday, May 4 at Kalaangann.
Among these children, a group of 18 will perform in Mumbai on Sunday, April 17. Eric Ozario, Gurkar, Louis Pinto, president, Arun Raj Rodrigues, vice-presiedent, Ronald Gomes, camp coordinator, Ronald Castelino, Pirjent, John Permannur, theatre trainer' and Sweety D’Cruz, dance trainer were present.
