Puttur, Jul 3: In a tragic incident which happened at Hosamajalu in Nelyady in the taluk on Saturday July 1, a motor bike met with an accident, causing the death of its young rider. The bike rider lost his life in the accident instantluy, while the pillion rider survived with serious injuries.

Both the persons travelling by the ill-fated two-wheeler were on pilgrimage to Dharmasthala. Anil Kumar (26), who was riding the motor bike, died in the accident. Puneeth suffered serious injuries. Anil was the son of Ranganna alias Ranganath from Nelamangala. Anil, employed in a private firm at Bengaluru, had married a month back.

Anil had begun his journey to Dharmasthala along with friend, Puneeth, on Saturday evening in his motor bike. As they could not properly figure out the route, they had travelled farther after crossing Periyashanti on national highway 75 instead of taking a turn there towards Dharmasthala. After the rider lost control over the motor bike as Hosamajalu, Nelyady, both fell into the roadside storm drain along with the two-wheeler.

Anil, who suffered critical injuries in the accident, breathed his last at the spot. Puneeth stands admitted into a private hopsital at Mangaluru. A case about this accident was registered in Uppinangady police station.
