Dubai, Jul 3 (Khaleej Times): Next time you spit out a chewing gum on a Dubai road, be prepared to dole out a Dh500 fine.

Dubai Municipality, in a post on Twitter, said: "It's small in size, but it has a negative impact on the appearance of the city. Do not throw chewing gums on roads to avoid a fine of Dh500."

The move is part of Dubai Municipality's keenness to provide a clean and sustainable environment. It is aimed at enhancing the participation and contribution of the community members in maintaining the public cleanliness and aesthetic appearance of the Emirate.

It is also aimed at increasing community environmental awareness in the Emirate of Dubai in light of the multiplicity of nationalities and cultures in the emirate.

One must be aware that chewing gum in Dubai Metro or the platform and Dubai buses isn't allowed and you can be fined if caught. Spitting in a public place can cost Dh1,000 in fine.

In its website, Dubai Municipality has listed various offences and fines. Throwing waste on the streets, urinating in facilities not designated for such purposes and spitting in public can invite a fine of Dh500 in Dubai.

    In Mangalore few passengers (only men) sitting on side seat of the city buses, and spit from inside pan parag or something else, not bothered to see who's body or dress it falls ...Pachhakk !!

    Dear Fernandes, once i walking walking in Mangalore during my visit. I had same experience.. Surprisingly that was WOMAN (Ajji) sitting inside the bus.

    We can't bring this rule in India because we know how to come out clean..... In Dubai when they make rule they will implement properly...... But in India if they make rule and some one is caught than he will pay some corruption, or some politics or bail and he will be free within few minutes. Eating Pan is punishable in Dubai but if they implement this one in India , Indian politicians will object because they themselves eat pan or our superi producers will make strike. Roaming animals on the public roads is not allowed in Dubai..... If they see any animals on the road than they will catch the animals and penalization the owner but if you make rule in India , we got some animal lovers and they will make big agitation. So you will find lot of dogs, cows etc on the Indian road.

    India should learn from Dubai whether it is Sale of Pork in Dubai or spitting on road or anywhere in public places. It is a shame that in India we kill people in the name of food, It is a shame in India, we spit on ground or corner of a place or urinate in public places is like insulting our mother India, we litter the places even dirty the rivers is like killing nature. Time to learn from Dubai.

    I heard the joke from Kapil Sharma...... He visited Dubai and joking about his experience..... In Dubai he feels that the car is running on road but in India car is running on path holes. He saw the resident buildings and no laundry cloth outside the building(Dubai municipality will fine if they see the washed cloths for dry) but we can make out in Resident buildings permanent washed cloth are kept outside and person can make out how many people are leaving in the flat.... i.e. how many ladies, men, children etc. their inner cloths also you can see in their veranda.
