Shah goes on door-to-door campaign in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, July 5 (IANS): BJP national president Amit Shah, who is on a three-day visit to Odisha, on Wednesday went on a door-to-door campaign in Jajpur district along with other ministers.

Shah, along with Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, state BJP president Basant Panda and other senior party leaders, also stopped for lunch at a local's house in Areigao village.

As part of "Mo Booth Sabuthu Majboot (My Booth is the Strongest)" programme, the BJP president is later scheduled to address a meeting of party workers at Panikoili.

Earlier in the day, Shah offered prayers at Biraja temple. "Visited the Biraja Temple in Jajpur, Odisha, and took blessings of Maa Durga," tweeted Shah.

Shah received a grand welcome by people while on his way to the district. "Same energy and enthusiasm among people at different places in Odisha. People of Odisha yearning for change," tweeted Shah.

Earlier on Tuesday, Shah held meetings in Ganjam district, the home turf of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik where he lashed out at the BJD government for, what he called, its failure to develop Odisha. He had stated that BJP will come to power with two-thirds majority in 2019.

On Thursday, Shah is slated to meet BJP Zilla Parishad members, block presidents and vice-presidents in Khurda district.

He will also meet senior party leaders to chalk out a strategy for the 2019 elections.
