New Delhi, Apr 24: After Mayawati, Uma Bharti on Wednesday took on Rahul Gandhi for his foray into Dalit homes calling it a manifestation of the "feudal mindset" and counselled the Congress leader to avoid "dramatics".

"It seems, he is trying to play Lord Ram visiting Shabari (of the epic Ramayana). These acts of spending time and eating in Dalit homes reflects nothing but the feudal mindset and one should avoid such things as it makes mockery of a particular section of the society," Bharti told reporters hereon Wednesday.

These tricks amount to saying,"how great we are that we go to Dalit homes," she said.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has ridiculed Rahul for trying to reach out to Dalits saying he was indulging in "drama".

Bharti said Gandhi should instead invite Dalits to 10 Janpath and dine with them and get their blessings.

"I would ask him to call all of them to 10 Janpath and have food with them. I am sure that the poor would bless him for that," the former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister said.

The Bharatiya Janshakthi party leader, who broke away from BJP some year ago, however appreciated Gandhi for taking to the streets "to fight the cause of the downtrodden."

"I appreciate that he is taking to the streets to voice the demands of the downtrodden but he should resist from resorting to dramatics in such ventures," she said.

Bharti said the situation in Bundelkhand region where her party "enjoys a major support base" is worth being highlighted and brought into focus.

"Why only Rahul Gandhi, I would wish youths to come ahead and project the conditions there and press for solutions," she said.
