Lamu, July 8 (IANS): At least ten persons were killed when suspected Al-Shabaab militants attacked a Kenyan village in the coastal Lamu region on Saturday, officials said.
The insurgents shot dead the people in Jima village, Xinhua news agency quoted regional police commander Akello Odhiambo as saying.
"We have sent more security reinforcements to the scene," Odhiambo said.
The attack comes barely a week after militants killed three police officers in the same region.
