Andhra youth kills lover over suspicion

Visakhapatnam, Jul 9 (IANS): In a shocking incident, a youth brutally killed his lover by slashing her throat and smashing her head with dumbbells on Saturday, police said.

The incident occurred in Panda Veedhi area in this coastal city.

Suspecting that she was having an affair with some other youth, B. Satish Kumar committed the crime at his house after calling B. Bhavani (19) to his house.

During a heated argument, he broke a mirror and slashed her throat with a piece of glass. Hearing her cries, neighbours rushed to the scene but Satish threatened to attack them. He then hit the girl on her head with dumbbells and dragged her down the stairs.

Satish also attempted suicide but some people caught hold of him and handed him over to police. A profusely bleeding Bhavani was rushed to government-run King George Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Bhavani's family members said the duo were in love for last four years. Though they hail from different castes, both sides had agreed for the marriage.

Recently, Satish had met with a road accident and sustained head injury. Since then there was a change in his behaviour and he started suspecting Bhavani.

Police said they registered a case and were investigating.
