Udupi, Jul 13: Deputy superintendent of police (DySP), Kumaraswamy, who rushed to the help of the passengers of a bus who were injured in an accident, and took them in police vehicle besides providing them treatment in a hospital, gave proof about the fine humane qualities he has been endowed with.
A lorry accidentally hit a bus from behind on Wednesday July 12 afternoon opposite Natural Granites near Lord Venkataramana temple at Ambagilu here. The accident happened after the driver of the private express bus coming to Udupi from Kollur applied brakes all of a sudden after seeing that a motor bike rider moving in front suddenly fell on the road after the wheels of his vehicle skidded. The lorry that was moving to Mangaluru from Maharashtra that was directly behind the bus hit the bus, having been unable to expect the sudden stoppage of the bus.
In this accident, eight persons including the couple moving in motor bike suffered minor injuries. DySP Kumaraswamy, who was coming towards the town from Brahmavar on that occasion, stopped his vehicle, and attended to eight injured persons that had old people and women. Considering that they needed to be treated immediately, he carried all these persons in his department vehicle to the government hospital at Ajjarakad here where they were attended to.
A case about the accident was filed in the traffic station here. The fine qualities of altruism and humanitarian help exhibited by the police officer have come in for lavish praise.
