Mangaluru Jul 13: "Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai and U T Khader are directly responsible for the communal unrest in the district," charged BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa on Thursday, July 13.
Addressing media here he continued "After Congress came to power, several RSS and BJP workers have been murdered. But none of the cases has been solved by detaining the culprits. Instead culprits are protected. We have strong feeling that KFD is behind these murders. We have lost faith in the government. Investigations are not progressing. We demand National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into these matters so that the truth will be revealed,"
"On July 17, delegation will meet Home Minister Rajnath Singh to discuss the untoward incidents in the district. We also warn the government to give free hand to the police in these cases so that they will investigate properly. Instead police without women constables are unnecessarily raiding Hindu leaders’ residences at late night. The residences of Satyajith Suratkal and Sharan Pumpwell were raided e alleging involvement in stone pelting. This is nothing but the human rights violation,” Yeddyurappa added.
"Police are even trying to arrest Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat. If he is arrested, then whole state see fire and chief minister Siddaramaiah will be responsible for the consequences. If MPs Nalin Kumar Kateel and Shobha Karandlaje had taken part in Sharath Madiwala’s funeral procession, then police would have booked them," he said.
"Sharath Madiwala’s death news was announced with 20 hours delay because chief minister Siddaramaiah visited Mangaluru to take part in the convention. So for the smooth functioning of convention the news was delayed. Sharath's father had wished to donate Sharath's organs. But due to delayed announcement, Sharath's father could not fulfil his wishes. Siddaramaiah is responsible for this. Ramanath Rai and U T Khader have supported him," he charged.
"Pawan and Ratnakar Shetty stabbing should be properly investigated. We have faith in police department, but government wants them to work under its control. If they do listen, they are transferred. Government should take stringent action and arrest the real culprits without looking at religion, caste and creed to gain political benefits.” said Yeddyurappa.
He also urged people to maintain peace and not to take law in to their hands.
“Prohibitory orders have been extended from the past 48 days which indicates that the government is not capable of bringing normalcy in the district. We demand to ban organisations such as KFD, SDPI and PFI," he said.
When asked about boycotting peace meeting Yeddyurappa said," The government is safeguarding the culprits and instigating the clashes in the district. It is impossible for it to maintain peace in the district and we have lost faith. We want all this to be stopped. If this is continued, then we will stage Satyagraha in the district.”
MPs Shobha Karandlaje, Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik and others were present.
