Managaluru, Jul 15: In connection with the murder of RSS activist Sharath Madiwala, at B C Road that had given rise to communally charged atmosphere in Dakshina Kannada district, it is learnt that the police have taken into custody two persons. They are being questioned now.
Highly placed sources in police department said that investigation into this murder case has been given added momentum. Although there are claims that Sharath's killers had come from Kerala and rushed back home after committing this heinous crime, both the men now being questioned are from Dakshina Kannada district. The police are yet to conclude whether these two persons had taken part in the killing of Sharath. However, police department is confident of concluding its investigation into this case and arresting the culprits within a few days.

Sharath, who was attacked with sharp weapons on the night of July 4 had breathed his last at a hospital here two days later. Five investigating teams have been at work from different angles into this murder.Police department is under pressure to identify the culprits soon from various quarters including political parties. The fact that state director general of police Rupak Kumar Dutta, top police officers as well as some officers who had till recently worked in the district have camped in the district and guiding the operations, has given rise to the hope that the police will be able to crack this case quickly.
The situation in the district has remained peaceful. Police personnel including the ones deputed from other districts continue to keep close watch on the law and order situation. In the meanwhile, the prohibitory orders clamped in four taluks of the district have completed 50 days, which is the longest stretch this district has experienced so far.
