Margao, Apr 28: Three persons hailing from Sadashivghad-Karwar were dragged into the Cancona sea and drowned on Sunday, April 27. Two among the deceased are father and son.  The third one is a family friend of the deceased.

According to information furnished by the Cancona police, the incident happened at Galjibhag-Canacona, when the three were taking bath close to the sea. Unfortunately, a burst of strong under-current waves gushing to the shores dragged the unsuspecting trio deep inside the sea, giving them no chance to save themselves and in the bargain getting drowned.

Deny Gudhino (45) and his son Ingasiyo Gudhino (15), and their friend Patrick Fernades are among those drowned. When people around the area saw the incident, they did rush and try to rescue them. But all their efforts went in vain.

Later the bodies were fished out and the Canacona police then sent the bodies to Margao Hosipicio hospital for postmortem. Canacona police are currently investigating the case.
