New Delhi, July 17 (IANS): T.M. Bhasin, Vigilance Commissioner in the Central Vigilance Commission, has received a Doctorate Degree Certificate from the University of Madras for his research work on the "Impact of Banking on Inclusive Growth".
The Doctorate Degree was conferred on him by Tamil Nadu Governor C. Vidyasagar Rao at the Annual Convocation function in the University on Saturday.
At the end of the research and submission of thesis, a presentation of 25 suggestions was made to the Department of Financial Services by Bhasin in 2014 as Chairman of the Indian Banks Association. This became an integral part of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana under which 28 crore savings bank accounts have been opened by all banks across the country.
Bhasin took up study of five Tamil Nadu districts -- Dharmapuri, Salem, Cuddalore, Kancheepuram and Vellore -- for detailed research in 25 bank branches, 125 villages, 250 financially-excluded samples and 1,500 financially-included beneficiaries.
