Panaji: Bombay HC Urged to Probe Advocate General's Billing

Panaji, Apr 30: Utt Goenkara has sought the intervention of chief justice of Bombay high court in the double and excessive billing by Goa's advocate general Subodh Kantak.

In a letter to chief justice Swatanter Kumar, Utt Goenkara has stated that Subodh Kantak was an unwarranted burden to the state exchequer.

Utt Goenkara has stated that Subodh Kantak has brought irreparable disrepute and disgrace to the high constitutional post of advocate general by double and excessive billing.

Giving the chief justice details of the the exorbitant and excessive fees being paid to Goa's advocate general, Utt Goenkara stated Subodh Kantak should have upheld the dignity of the high constitutional post entrusted to him.

Urging the chief justice to direct a thorough probe into each and every bill submitted by Subodh Kantak, Utt Goenkara has demanded that all excess amounts paid to the advocate general must be recovered.

Drawing chief justice Swatanter Kumar' s attention to the fee structure of the advocate generals of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Gujarat, Utt Goenkara stated that the Goa government should be directed to bring the advocate general's fees on par with the other states.
