BSP legislator quits party, joins BJP

Lucknow, July 29 (IANS): Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) legislator Thakur Jaiveer Singh, who was a minister in the Mayawati government during her 2007-2012 reign, quit the party on Saturday and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Singh was member of the legislative council.

His nephew Upendra Singh 'Neetu', the district panchayat chief of Aligarh, also joined the saffron camp on Saturday.

The desertion in BSP coincides with the resignation of three senior Samajwadi Party (SP) legislators earlier in the day.
