Bihar minister apologises for shouting 'Jai Shri Ram'

Patna, Jul 31 (IANS): Bihar Minority Affairs Minister Khurshid Alam alias Firoz Ahmad on Sunday apologised for shouting 'Jai Shri Ram' following which he faced criticism from his community and a fatwa was also issued against him.

"In case I hurt people by shouting 'Jai Shri Ram' I apologise for it," said Alam of the Janata Dal-United.

Taking an U turn from his earlier stand, he said he did not shout it for a religious purpose.

According to JD-U leaders, Alam's apology came after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar asked him to do so in view of growing controversy.

A Mufti of the influential Imarat-e-Shariya here issued a fatwa against Khurshid Alam for shouting 'Jai Shri Ram' deeming him ostracised.

Mufti Suhail Ahmad Qasmi however said that it was his personal fatwa against Alam, not of the Imarat-e-Shariya.

Alam, who had loudly chanted 'Jai Shri Ram' in the assembly premises on Friday, had earlier told media here that he hardly bothers about any kind of fatwa against him.

"I am not at all worried or take it (fatwa) seriously. I am not afraid of such a fatwa... I am true Mussalman and there is nothing wrong in my faith," he said, adding that there is nothing wrong if he has chanted 'Jai Shri Ram' for the sake of harmony and development of the state.

"I will chant Jai Shri Ram again if I think it is necessary for peace and harmony," he had added.

Man created religion and their own respective Gods.
hence Ram, Christ and Allah are different Gods.

My Friend Shankar. for your info, Ram is creation of God & God is the one creator of the Universe. Quran clearly says who is God, "Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One, Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, Nor is there to Him any equivalent."

    Ahmed Bhai,
Your theory of creator and creation is what you believe, ours is different. Ram is different and Allah is different.
But what is wrong if a Muslim says Jai Shriram, or if a Hindu says Allah Ho Akbar? Or what is wrong if both say Hail Jesus?

    dear Mr Shankar
Bihar Minority Affairs Minister Khurshid Alam alias Firoz Ahmad can say jai Shri ram this is his wish but don't compare with Allah to Ram or Christ or any human beings because Shri Ram or Jesus Christ both of them creatures not creater both persons are created by GOD(Allah) so we Muslim believe ALLAH is the creator he doesn't have child nor he have father or mother neither he begot nor he begotten ekaham bramah n asthi na prathima

..this is called sicularism..this is tight slap on people who advocate secularism/tolerance for everything..how many will return award against this fatwa & forcing a secular person to opologize..where is not in my name campaign, isnt it rigth time..here India, secularism forced on one section of people..they will force to wear cap, otherwise not secular..force to give Iftar party , otherwise not secular..but singing janagana/vandemataram/yoga is a big no, it hurts religious feeling..

    @Ramesh,
No one but Nitish Kumar forced him to apologize. So he apologized for his political benefit.

He is free to follow whichever religion he is comfortable with. Religion is nothing but faith in specific ideology. No one can force an ideology on him. He can convert to Hinduism if he wishes. Those who have faith in Islam can stay in Islam.
