Condemn attacks on Dalits, Muslims: Veteran Armymen write to Modi

New Delhi, Jul 31 (Agencies): The recent attacks on Dalits and the Muslim community in the country is drawing flak from people from all walks of life. Condemning the recent spate of attacks, a group of 114 veterans of the Indian Armed Forces have penned an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Voicing concern over the recent incidents, the Army veterans said “what is happening in our country today strikes at all that the Armed Forces, and indeed our Constitution, stand for. We are witness to unprecedented attacks on society at large by the relentless vigilantism of self-appointed protectors of Hinduism.”

They also condemned the clampdowns on free speech by attacks on media outlets, civil society groups, universities, journalists and scholars, through a campaign of branding them anti-national and unleashing violence against them while the State looks away.

The veterans have clarified that they do not hold affiliation with any political party. They said they stand with the ‘Not in My Name’ campaign that mobilised thousands of citizens across the country to protest against the current climate of fear, intimidation, hate and suspicion.

In the letter, the veterans expressed their distress and said, “It saddens us to write this letter, but current events in India have compelled us to register our dismay at the divisiveness that is gripping our country.”

Stating that the Armed forces stand for ‘Unity in Diversity’, the letter signed by veteran Armed force personnel to the Prime Minister further mentioned, “Differences in religion, language, caste, culture or any other marker of belonging have not mattered to the cohesion of the Armed Forces, and servicemen of different backgrounds have fought shoulder to shoulder in the defence of our nation, as they continue to do today.”

It further said, “Throughout our service, a sense of openness, justice and fair play guided our actions. We are one family. Our heritage is like the multi-coloured quilt that is India, and we cherish this vibrant diversity.”

The letter by Armed force veterans said, “We urge the powers that be at the Centre and in the States to take note of our concerns and urgently act to uphold our Constitution, both in letter and in spirit.”

The letter comes a month after scores of people took to streets in various cities to protest a rise in mob lynching. The campaign called 'Not In My Name' was sparked after a teenage Muslim boy was killed by a mob, on a train near Delhi, who accused him of being a 'beef-eater'.

Prime Minister has also condemned the killings, saying, "Killing people in the name of Gau Bhakti (reverence of cows) is not acceptable."

What an appeal that too from our trusted and highly respected veterans of our armed forces who view all occurrence's impartially. If these veterans have voiced their concern, the only alternative India has to stop this spiralling havoc is, for the armed forces to join together and bring military rule. They should eliminate all divisive forces within 3 months, eliminate multiple political parties and limit it to majority 3 parties (like North America or Europe) to contest a democratic election using paper ballots and military supervising the entire electrical process. Bring a fresh Government which upholds the constitution of India, respects the sacrifices made by crores of military personnel for this country, and rise above religion while forming the government. Let us not allow the outside forces - Paki and Chinese to take advantage of our internal turmoil.

Attacks, riots, crimes are BJP's way of bringing the state under control by agitation. Just like what happened in Bantwal these BJP thugs most probably kill thier own secretly but make it appear as though the opponents have murdered so that their attacks are justified to the public and then gain popularity and dictate rule.

The Prime Minister himself is responsible for this unfortunate state of affairs in our beloved country. The only two Pillars of strength left in our country are our Judiciary and the Armed Forces. I t will be a sad day if even these Veterans are also labelled as Anti National for voicing their concern at the present state of affairs in our country.

Pressure is pouring from many sides. All these years Mr. Modi kept his cool, watching things from behind the curtains, deaf years and closed eyes. The damage is already done to the BJP'eans and the leaders.
Today's breaking news 'Sacred cow ambulance service launched in India for ill, injured or abandoned cattle' in MP and some other BJP ruled state.
What a great service to Cows at the cost of Human lives. Do it but also, consider human lives are more precious, valuable than Cows.
Is it first time in 70 years??
Is India first country to move in that direction?

    Dear People,
Questioning the BJP government DOES NOT make any one anti-national. In a mature democracy, it's a civil right to question the government.

If BJP government is labelling its citizens who raise questions as anti-nationals, then it is probably trying to impose fascism.

Dear Veteran Armymen, the cow government is condemning attacks on Dalit's, Muslims and the rapists once in a year not frequently.

At the same time from under ground they incite its associates to attack Dalit's, Muslims Christians and the Christians worship places

Without which they will not go to bed and get votes.
