Mangaluru: Student from Mulky dies of rat fever

Mangaluru, Aug 1: A student of Medalin school at K S Rao Nagar, Mulky lost his life due to rat fever on Monday July 31.

The deceased was Siddalingappa (15), residing near Lord Anjaneya temple in Laingappayyakadu, Mulky. He was one among the three children of Siddappa, a native of Koodlikeri in Nargund taluk, Gadag district. He had suffered from symptoms of fever since the last some days. As the fever did not subside, he absented from school and died at hospital where he was admitted.

The doctors have expressed the opinion that the cause of his death was rat fever but detailed medical report is awaited. Father of the student works as coolie. The school observed a day's holiday on Monday on account of the student's death.  Several suspected patients of malaria, dengue and rat fever are being treated in the government hospital, Mulky now.
